A new version of rickrolling called Getting Krissed has led to rumors spreading online that Zendaya and Tom Holland are pregnant
social media Platforms cater to different audiences, and an inside joke on one site can be interpreted completely differently on another.
That’s all you need to know.
What are the pregnancy rumors about?
The rumors of Zendaya’s alleged pregnancy started on TikTok as part of what’s essentially a modern-day equivalent of rickrolling.
A clip was edited together in the video to make it appear as if the actress had posted a picture of an ultrasound to her Instagram, with a comment from actress Marisa Tomei, who recently played Holland’s version of Aunt May Spiderman movies.
It then cuts away at the end of the TikTok Kris Jenner dance to it Mrs. Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, whose name is not Rickrolled but Krissed.
As is usual for social media, the video made its way from TikTok to Twitter, but given that the two platforms have different audiences, those on Twitter apparently didn’t get the memo that they were getting Krissed, and it started spread the talk of Zendaya’s alleged pregnancy.
What did Zendaya say about the rumours?
While Zendaya didn’t address the rumors directly, she did post on her Instagram stories to let her followers know that she wasn’t swayed by the discussion on Twitter.
She wrote: “See this is why I stay off twitter.
“Just making things up for no reason…weekly.”
How long have Zendaya and Tom Holland been together?
Holland and Zendaya are the third iteration of Spiderman leads to meeting and following in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
While they were first rumored to be dating in 2017, they both denied the romance at the time and were both dating other people – Zendaya with Australian actor Jacob Elordi (euphoria, The kissing booth 3) and Holland with English actress Nadia Parkes (Domina, Starstruck).
Their relationship was confirmed in July last year after they were spotted kissing in a car.
chat with GQ In November, Holland explained that they didn’t really want to come out as a couple back then.
He said: “One of the downsides to our fame is that privacy isn’t really under our control anymore and a moment that you think is between two people who love each other very much is now a moment that’s with shared around the world.
“I’ve always been very careful about keeping my private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway. We felt somehow robbed of our privacy.
“I don’t think it’s about not being ready [for our relationship to be outed]. We just didn’t want it.”
In the same interview, Zendaya added that the public obsession with their relationship was “pretty weird and strange and confusing and obtrusive.”
She said: “Same feeling [we both share] Is it just that when you really love someone and care about them, some moments or things you wish were yours…
“I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to grapple with and go through and experience and enjoy between the two people who love each other.”
Recently, Zendaya gave a glimpse of her relationship with Holland with a post on Instagram for his birthday, writing: “The happiest of birthdays to whoever makes me the happiest <3"
