Women’s Health: Breaking the Taboos premiered this Tuesday (9 August) at 7pm on Channel 5.

Who is hosting Women’s Health: Breaking the Taboos?

Women’s Health: Breaking the Taboos will be moderated by Cherry Healey.

Speaking of her role in creating the program, she said, “It’s a great honor to be able to help shed light on some of the most hidden health issues facing women.”

Adding, “It’s so important to me that we start to destigmatize women’s health issues as a society and this series, the first health show of its kind with a focus on women, will hopefully provide a good basis for starting important conversations.” ”

Tuesday, August 9 – Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease in which tissue similar, but not the same, as the endometrium, grows in areas throughout the body — including the ovaries, bladder, intestines, diaphragm, and even the lungs.

It causes debilitating pain with symptoms that include, but are not limited to: painful periods, painful bowel movements, painful urination, and painful sex.

The disease affects one in ten people and due to misinformation and a lack of awareness there is currently an 8.5 year delay in accessing a diagnosis in the UK.

Wednesday, August 10 – Menopause

An estimated 13 million people in the UK are either perimenopausal or menopausal.

This is when your period is late due to lower hormone levels.

Symptoms of menopause and perimenopause can include: anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flashes, and irregular periods.

Thursday, August 11th – Underdiscussed effects of pregnancy

This episode follows two women trying to heal damage done to their bodies during pregnancy.

Friday 12 August – Hair Loss and Reynauds

The last episode deals with hair loss and Reynauds Syndrome.

Raynaud’s is a condition that affects your blood circulation.
