After a nervous start that saw Sweden have a chance to score after just 24 seconds, England finally came into play and Beth Mead scored her sixth goal of the tournament in the 34th minute to give the Lionesses a much-needed boost.

England were on fire then and in the second half goals from Lucy Bronze, Alessio Russo and Fran Kirby saw the goal line 4-0 in the end and sent England confidently through this weekend’s final.

Now the Lionesses are gearing up for their third EURO final when they face either Germany or France on Sunday.

The UEFA tournament final will be played at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 31 July 2022 with kick-off at 17:00 BST.

Who will England play in the final?

The Lionesses will meet either Germany or France on Sunday and their fate will be revealed later today (Wednesday 27 July) when the two meet in the second semi-final at Stadium MK.

With eight wins, Germany is the most successful team at the European Women’s Championship.

They first won in 1989, defeating Norway in the final and then winning seven of the next eight tournaments.

England and Germany have played each other nine times in recent history, with Germany winning five times.

However, England won the last game, which took place at the Arnold Clark Cup, 3-1.

France, on the other hand, has yet to win a Women’s Euro tournament. But for the first time they broke their quarter-final curse and reached the semi-finals with a 1-0 win over holders Netherlands.

England and France have met a total of 12 times, with England winning seven times and the two sides drawing three times.

In their last duel, which took place in April 2021, France won 3-1.
