In August 2013, Martin Manley, a 60-year-old blogger and former sportswriter for the Kansas City Star, passed away suddenly.
Martin left the magazine in 2012 to start his own sports blog. Manley was known for his love of statistics and he created the efficiency rating, a basketball statistic still used today.
Business Insider claims Manley launched a website in 2013 where he spoke about his decision to take his own life.
Obituary on the death of Martin Manley and why he died?
Martin Manley claims that none of the “major causes of adult suicide” apply to him. He attributes his decision to the impending economic collapse, an increase in world suffering, and the difficulties associated with aging.
Manley said he did not want to die alone, nor of old age, nor did he want to die alone. He didn’t want to spend the rest of his life alone and helpless, unable to do anything. So he made the bold decision to leave that existence behind.
The author left the star in 2012 to start his own sports site. Before leaving, he created the Efficiency Rating, a basketball metric that is still used today.
Martin killed himself on his 60th birthday. In the United States, more than 100 people commit suicide every day, and a significant proportion of them leave messages for their grieving friends and family members.
Some of them are vindictive, some are contrite, and some are startlingly vague. However, only a few officials and close family members actually read the majority of them.
Manley felt it was insufficient to confront his friends and family about his death. He wanted to address the public. He longed to prove to the world, and perhaps most importantly to himself, that his life and death were justified.
Suicide blog on Martin Manley’s site has TikTok in shock
The resurfacing of the story has stunned many TikTok users and they have expressed their disbelief in the video’s comments section.
One reader wrote: “Yes I’m sure I would love to be even more traumatized at work than I already am.
According to his website, Martin Manley has developed a massive suicide website, paid Yahoo for five years of web hosting up front and made a final post on his linked sports blog Thursday morning.
According to the Kansas City Star, he committed suicide outside an Overland Park police station. It was his 60th birthday.
He claimed he wanted to write the most detailed description of a suicide letter in history on the site, which quickly became popular on social media. He then began to explain why he had killed himself, initially trying to portray it as a very conscious act by a man who was “satisfied with his life up to the last minute” and wanted to leave the world his way.
Manley’s fear of aging was his leading cause of death.
Sports blogger Martin Manley Story goes viral on TikTok
The horrifying story of Martin Manley has captured the nation’s attention for the past nine years. After a video went viral on the social media site, his story was shared on TikTok.
Supporting that idea is a peculiar paragraph in which he appears to have uploaded GPS coordinates to a cache of gold and silver coins, sparking a macabre and ultimately unsuccessful treasure hunt on Thursday.
Manley’s desire to reassure everyone that he had no regrets about taking his own life was one of his driving forces behind the creation of a suicide website. In the long term, Martin hoped that his life would be remembered and that his suicide was just a footnote.
