Off Monroe Road and Independence Boulevard in east Charlotte is a large park and green space area called McAlpine Creek Park. It is home to a lake, a fishing pier, soccer fields and a dog park, as well as hiking and biking trails.

A statement from Matt Sullivan’s family said: “He enjoyed his Friday afternoon walks and frequently visited McAlpine Creek. Matt Sullivan was last seen near McAlpine Creek Park, a sizable park and greenway area off Monroe Road and Independence Boulevard in east Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Friday around 1:45 p.m. According to authorities, Sullivan was reported missing after failing to return home after promising his family he would shortly.

Sullivan reportedly had lunch at the Moosehead Grill in the Montford neighborhood near Park and Woodlawn streets. According to the family, the only other event caught on camera by a traffic light near the park was the arrival of Sullivan.
