Ben was nevertheless protected for two weeks by SS personnel stationed in the kitchen, and he recovered. Later, another prisoner who stole vegetables was captured by the same SS.
He became angry and stabbed the prisoner in the throat with a pitchfork, killing him. Then, according to Ben, you have to “clean up the mess”.
