Lynsey Hipgrave will head up coverage for BT Sport during the 2022/23 Premier League season

The Premier League’s grand opener is upon us as the world’s most-watched football league returns for another season of action-packed action.

They were brought straight to the wire by Liverpool last season and Jurgen Klopp’s side will aim to regain the title they won in 2020.

BT Sport will be back on the ground to cover all the talking points of the season including title races, relegation battles, battles for European football and everything in between.

However, there was a major shake-up ahead of the season and fans will discover new faces when they tune in.

Who will host the Premier League for BT Sport in 2022/23?

Jake Humphrey has been the face of BT Sport’s football coverage since the start of the 2013/14 season.

This season, however, broadcasters have made a change that will see Lynsey Hipgrave take on the role of lead presenter for Premier League coverage.

Their first game of the new Premier League comes on Saturday 6 August when newly promoted Fulham host Liverpool at Craven Cottage.

Lynsey Hipgrave tweeted: “After a weekend of dreams coming true for women in football, so has a football-loving Georgie girl’s dreams come true. I couldn’t be prouder to be leading BT Sport’s Premier League coverage this season.

Hipgrave, 42, started working at BT Sport in 2013 and has also worked for Eurosport, Discovery+, Talksport and Mola.Sport.

Since working for BT Sport, Hipgrave has mainly covered Thursday night’s Europa League coverage.

Although Humphrey is no longer the face of BT Sport’s Premier League coverage, he is expected to continue hosting BT Sport’s Champions League content this season.

Following the news that Hipgrave would be taking the lead in BT Sport’s Premier League coverage, Jake Humphrey took to social media to react.

He said: “Ignore the misleading headlines. I have spoken to BT about being too busy and we have agreed that I will be hosting fewer PL games.

“I’ll still be hosting a few but one of my favorite people @lynseyhipgrave1 gets to headline coverage and I couldn’t be happier for her.”
