Where will Eurovision 2022 take place?

The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place in Turin, Italy.

Located in northern Italy, Turin is famous for its rich art and culture, as well as its connections to Italian history.

The competition will be broadcast from the PalaOlimpico Arena, the largest sports arena in Italy.

While the 12,500-seat arena will be filled with Eurovision fanatics, hundreds of millions more will be watching from their homes.

Who is hosting Eurovision 2022?

While they are often well known in their home country, the Eurovision presenters are most likely unknown to international audiences.

However, UK viewers will definitely recognize one of this year’s presenters, with pop star Mika taking the reins.

The “Grace Kelly” singer was hugely popular in the UK in the late 2000s, peaking at number one with the song and winning a Brit Award in 2008.

Who won Eurovision last year?

Italy received the Eurovision keys after securing first place in the rankings during the 2021 competition.

Their first victory in 31 years came after rock band Måneskin lit up the stage with their song “Zitti E Buoni”.

Måneskin’s victory meant Italy extended their competitive record, having previously won in 1964 and 1990.

How are the guest countries of Eurovision selected?

Traditionally, at Eurovision, the winner of the previous year organizes the competition the following year.

However, if a country cannot physically host the event, another country can be delegated to host on its behalf.

The host city is chosen by the country’s Eurovision committee itself, with each potential host city submitting a plan of how they would present the competition.

Who is favorite to win Eurovision 2022?

The Kalush Orchestra has won the competition for the country for the first time since Jamala brought the trophy to Kyiv in 2016.

If the country wins, the current situation may mean that Ukraine cannot physically host the event. In this case, another country with immediate capacity, such as Germany, could host on their behalf.

The grand finale takes place on Saturday 14th May at 20:00 UK time.
