44 years after Grease was first released, we take a look back at where some of the cast are now
The Australian actress will be remembered for her iconic role as Sandy 1978 musical fat and for her hits like “Physical” and “If Not For You.”
Newton-John leaves behind a plethora of castmates who found great success after leaving Rydell High School.
Some have become legends themselves Hollywood historywhile others have made names for themselves in other industries.

One of the biggest stars of the 1978 hit was Danny Zuko himself, John Travolta, who had his breakthrough role in Saturday Night Fever a year before Grease was released.
Since then, Travolta has established himself as a Hollywood icon, starring in films like Pulp Fiction, From Paris with Love, and Hairspray.
The 68-year-old actor has earned BAFTA, Academy Award and SAG Award nominations over a four-decade career.
Known for her role as Rizzo in Grease, Stockard Channing has become an award-winning actress.
The film was Channing’s first role after acting in Broadway shows. In 1980 she had her own series The Stockard Channing Show.
The head of the Pink Ladies has also had roles in films such as Six Degrees of Separation, The Men’s Club and The Time of Destiny.
Most recently, Channing starred in the film Death to 2021.
Although Jeff Conaway played Kenickie in the film version of Grease, he originally played Danny Zuko in the stage version.
Conaway has had several roles on television shows, as well as starring as Boby Wheeler on Taxi and Zack Allan on Babylon.
Unfortunately, after many addiction problems, Conaway contracted pneumonia and died in 2011 at the age of 60.
Many will remember Didi Conn with pink hair from her role as Frenchy in the first and second Grease films.
Unlike John Travolta, Didi hasn’t had many roles in films, but the actress has starred in over 40 television shows.
These include Rugrats, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Blue Bloods, as well as a special appearance on ITV’s Dancing on Ice in 2019.
Sonny side up – Michael Tucci rose to fame for his role as Sonny in Grease and has kept the momentum going with regular appearances in TV shows and movies.
Tucci played Melissa McCarthy’s father in the 2013 comedy The Heat and was also seen a number of times opposite Dick Van Dyke in Diagnosis Murder.
Most recently, in 2018, Tucci played Weezi Abramowitz in The Rich and the Ruthless.
The only person to reprise her role from stage show to film was Jamie Donnelly as fun-loving Jan, one of the Pink Ladies.
Jamie’s most recent work is Cargo (2017) and Waitress (2016), but she has a history of leading roles.
These include Ray Donavon in 2014 and a recurring appearance in Family Affair.
Barry Pearl appeared in many television projects after his role as Doody in T-Birds, most notably he reappeared in 2016’s Grease Live.
Other projects included Murder She Wrote, ER, House and 90210.
The now 72-year-old teaches cinematography for special needs communities in the United States during the summer months.
Kelly and John Travolta appeared side by side on screens before Grease was released in 1978’s The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.
There was no original “Putzie” character for the musical, but she was created specifically for the film.
Five years after T-Birds hit the big screen, Kelly Ward began working behind the scenes in film and television production, most notably as a voice director at Disney Television Animation on shows such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
