Britain is hosting the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup for the first time in 31 years.
Despite being eliminated from the competition earlier this year, the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup final will be hosted by Great Britain in Glasgow.
This is the first time since 1993 that the British team has made it to the final stages of the women’s team event, formerly known as the Fed Cup.
Speaking of her team’s promotion, Britain captain Anne Keothavong said: “It’s the nature of competition but the LTA have made a fantastic bid and as a team we’re all really excited at the prospect of being able to present all this Best of Women Tennis in Glasgow so we see it as an opportunity.”
The BJK Cup is the largest annual women’s sports competition in the world, and the LTA’s bid to host it was driven by the goal of capitalizing on Raducanu’s success in New York last summer.
LTA director of digital and large-scale events Chris Pollard said he hopes the event, which will take place later in November, is the start of a three-year UK hosting process that will ultimately see the event take place outside of Glasgow.

Following the announcement, Pollard said: “Our desire with the Davis Cup is to do a roadshow across the UK and that was an important part of our bid.
“Our shared vision for the BJK Cup final is to extend this to three years.
“Over the next few weeks we will be working with the ITF and other local partners to see if we can introduce the right model to take it to other cities across the UK and inspire a new generation of young women and girls, boys and men.”
The British team’s captain, Keothavong, said: “This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of women’s tennis and draw attention to women’s sport. The whole team is thrilled to be playing in front of their home crowd and hearing loud support all week long.”
“I was in Nottingham yesterday and I could see for myself that there was a lot of excitement and interest in (Raducanu) and the event. I hope this continues. I just see that as a good thing for tennis in this country.
“We’ve seen interest in her over the past 12 months. What she faces over the next few weeks will be a big challenge, but she will no doubt find a way to overcome it.”
When is the BJK Cup Final?
The final starts on November 8th, 2022 and ends on November 13th, 2022. The British team consists of Harriet Dart, Sonay Kartal and Katie Swan and captains Anne Keothavong and Emma Raducanu.
The Emirates Arena in Glasgow will host the final of the tennis tournament. Originally built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, it will now host one of the biggest women’s sporting events on the calendar.
