The car being driven by Anne Heche, Ellen DeGeneres’ ex-girlfriend, collided with a home in Mar Vista, Los Angeles on Friday, August 5.
The force of the impact caught fire in both the car and the house.
The accident was reported by NBC Los Angeles before 11 a.m. Friday, according to local reporting. The 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue was the site of the incident, according to several local magazines.
Heche was reportedly in a serious condition and suffered from severe burns when she was pulled from her car. LAFD paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital.
Anne Heche was driving a blue Mini Cooper at the time of the brutal crash
According to some sources, Anne Heche was allegedly traveling at high speed in a blue Mini Cooper in the Mar Vista neighborhood when she went off the road and crashed into the 1766 Walgrove Avenue building, after the vehicle may have hit a curb. This may also help explain why the car drove straight into the house.
The Mini Cooper has captured the front yard of the house. According to Fox 11, a neighbor managed to safely remove the homeowner and her pets from the burning home.
The actress was reportedly placed on a stretcher before she was still breathing and carried to the ambulance while still conscious. Doctors at the surrounding hospital were unable to determine whether it was a case of DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol), although the accident as a whole is still under investigation. Due to her serious condition, no such sobriety tests were being conducted at the time.
Before her mishap, Heche was reportedly spotted hitting a garage at an apartment building, according to TMZ. The locals then tried to free the actress from her Mini Cooper. Before her second mishap, which led to her hospitalization, she reversed and exited the complex.
