Cameron Smith: One of the Newest LIV Defectors

Australian golfers Harold Varner III and Cameron Smith are among the newest crop of players who intend to switch to the fledgling LIV Golf Series.

The two are anticipated to compete in the LIV tournament outside of Boston the following week.

Along with Australian Marc Leishman, Joaquin Niemann of Chile, Cameron Tringale, and Anirban Lahiri of India.

Despite not participating in the LIV competition the following week, Mito Pereira, a player from Chile, is also anticipated to make the switch.

Smith, who is currently ranked second in the world and recently won The Open Championship, joins LIV as its highest-ranked player to date.

Smith has been the focus of rumors regarding joining the fledgling tour for weeks. In March, he also triumphed in The Players Championship.

Both Smith and Niemann received automatic invitations to the Presidents' Cup in North Carolina the following month. The No. 18 player in the world is Niemann.

Despite being ranked 44th, Varner has yet to claim a PGA Tour victory. Lahiri has won twice on the DP World Tour and has won seven times on the Asian Tour.
