What is Walter Presents?

Walter Presents is a specially curated showcase of award-winning foreign language drama. Each series is introduced by Walter Iuzzolino, the producer and a passionate drama fan who has teamed up with Channel 4 to provide a wider range of television programming for different audiences.

Four Strangers ● Sunday 17 July

Why is? Four people from different backgrounds, whose paths would otherwise never have crossed, become entangled after witnessing what appears to be a murder. Vinka, a middle-class bank teller; Haris, a successful architect; Blanka, a troubled teenage girl; and Kiki, who will lose his apartment because he is unemployed. They must contend with the aftermath of violence they did not cause but had to resolve, and struggle to keep their lives together in a society that has crushed them.

Why is? Former police commissioner Sikora abolished the old Warsaw mafia; Ex-Mafia member Blacha has now become a successful businessman on the street. When Blacha is suddenly accused of murder, the two men are thrown together again – and this time united when their daughters are in danger. Sins of the Fathers was nominated for Best Feature Film Series at the Polish Film Awards.

Hide and Seek ● Friday 12 August

Why is? When children go missing in an unsuspecting industrial city, detectives Varta and Maksim hunt down an elusive Pied Piper-style kidnapper and become increasingly involved in the case that stirs up their own demons in the past. Hide and Seek is the first Ukrainian drama from Walter Presents and a previous nominee for Best Central and Eastern European Series at the Serial Killer Awards.

How can I view it? Hide and Seek will be available in full as a box set on All4 from Friday 12th August, with the first episode airing on Channel 4 on Sunday 14th August at 9pm.

A Polish drama about a retired police officer and a former criminal who must face their past when their daughters’ lives are suddenly threatened. This gangster thriller sheds light on the dark and dangerous activities of the Warsaw Mafia.

Hide and Seek ● Sunday 14 August

Ukrainian drama. A father and his daughter play a game of hide and seek. Soon she is nowhere to be found… A video is later posted showing the girl holding a sign with a mysterious sequence of numbers. She is the first of several children who disappear without a trace in a small industrial town.

Polish drama. A year after the tragic events of the first season, the public awaits the results of the trial of the murdered women. Piotr Wolnicki, the main suspect, has pleaded not guilty. For some he is a terrible murderer, for others a victim of the system. Will the testimonies be enough to arrest him?

Agatha Christie’s Hjerson ● Friday 2 September, More4

Why is? Inspired by a character from Agatha Christie’s Poirot novels, Hjerson follows the unlikely partnership between a faded criminal profiler and a reality TV producer. The couple work together on a true crime reality show and solve a new case every week.

How can I view it? Hjerson begins Friday 2nd September on More4, with new episodes available weekly on All4. The series will run for 8 consecutive weeks ending Friday October 21st.

Who is Walter Iuzzolino?

Walter Presents’ Walter, Iuzzolino, is a television producer and drama fanatic. He selects the dramas to be screened as part of Walter Presents and serves as the curator for the strand. Iuzzolino founded Walter Presents with Jason Thorp and Jo McGrath.

As a producer he was involved in the UK on some of the series he was personally involved with including The Undateables and My Big Fat Fetish and the English language remakes of Professor T, Before We Die and Suspect.
