Is Virgin River a real place?

Unfortunately for fans of the show, who may have planned a romantic getaway to the quaint town where the show is set, Virgin River isn’t a real location.

The show is set in the fictional Virgin River, a small town rumored to be in Northern California.

There is no such place in California, although there happens to be a body of water in the US called the Virgin River – it’s a tributary of the Colorado River that crosses the states of Utah, Nevada and Arizona – although it’s in no way related to the shipment.

When asked what her inspiration for the city was, Robyn Carr, who wrote the novels Virgin River is based on, said: “It only exists in our hearts and minds.

“But to encourage that thought, we can have that sense of community in our own neighborhood or school or church group or community center or library association. We just have to try to make it.”

Where is Virgin River filmed?

Filming for the show’s fourth season took place from August to December 2021 and, like previous seasons, was shot entirely in Canada.

Most scenes were filmed in Vancouver and elsewhere in British Columbia. Filming locations are Burnaby, Squamish and Port Coquitlam.

Most of the city’s exteriors were shot in Snug Cove, a beautiful coastal community on eastern Bowen Island, British Columbia.

Snug Cove has a population of less than 4,000 and acts as a surrogate for Virgin River in the series – the local library and main streets appear several times in the show.

Scenes at Jack’s Bar, a popular haunt and haunt for many of the series’ characters, are filmed at the Watershed Grill in Brackendale.
