Vicky McClure

Who is she playing? McClure plays Lana Washington, a bomb disposal expert who previously served in Afghanistan. She is very close friends with Joel Nutkins, another “expo” on her team.

How do I know her? You most likely know McClure from her starring role in Line of Duty, although you may also know her from This is England or I Am Victoria.

If I enjoyed her performance in it, what should I watch next? McClure plays more of a supporting role than the lead, but you might enjoy Alex Rider – a surprisingly well-crafted action-thriller that rarely feels restricted by its YA roots.

Adrian Lester

Who is he playing? Adrian Lester plays Joel Nutkins, a bomb disposal expert who has been a friend and mentor to Lana Washington since they served in Afghanistan together.

How do I know him? Lester is a prolific actor so there are all sorts of projects you might know him from, but his most famous role to date is still Mickey Blue in Hustle.

If I liked his performance here, what should I watch next? More of a psychological thriller than an action play like Trigger Point, Lester did a great job in the three-part drama Trauma opposite John Simm in 2018.

Warren Brown

Who is he playing? Brown first appears in the second episode of Trigger Point, playing Karl Maguire.

How do I know him? All sorts of things again – Brown is one of those very reliable “this guy from this thing” type actors who’s appeared in everything from Doctor Who to Luther to Strike Back.

If I like his performance here, what should I watch next? Brown will also appear in The Responder, where he plays something of an antagonist to Martin Freeman’s emergency officer – The Responder is well worth checking out when that starts.

Kerry Godliman?

Who is she playing? Godliman plays Sonya Reeves, a forensic scientist who works on the same team as Lana Washington and Joel Nutkins.

How do I know her? You’ll probably recognize Godliman from her appearances on various panel shows — she’s best known as a stand-up comic and has previously participated in Taskmaster — or perhaps from her role in Ricky Gervais’ After Life.

If I enjoyed her performance in it, what should I watch next? She is best known as a comedian, but you may be interested in Godliman’s more dramatic turn in Whitstable Pearl.

Manjinder Virk

Who is she playing? Virk plays Samira Desai, one of the Met Police specialists involved in the case.

How do I know her? Virk has previously appeared in The Beast Must Die and Midsomer Murders. You may also know her from her short films Forgive and Out of Darkness.

If I enjoyed her performance here, what should I watch her in next? You should check out Peter Kosminsky’s Britz, which touches on some similar ideas to Trigger Point – Virk, starring alongside a young Riz Ahmed, gives a truly fantastic performance. She’s kind of the anchor of the whole thing, without her it wouldn’t work nearly as well.

Mark Stanley

Who is he playing? Stanley plays DI Thom Youngblood, a Metropolitan Police officer who is particularly close to Lana Washington.

How do I know him? Stanley does a lot of historical drama so you might not recognize him in Trigger Point’s modern day London, but he has previously appeared in Game of Thrones, Sanditon and the recent Anne Boleyn biopic on Channel 5.

Eric Shango
