That Baywatch star increased Instagram over the two day weekend to make the big reveal and his fans were thrilled that such a healthy and amazing family history had developed!
It all started with the huge movie star sharing a video of his mother walking through the front door of their new home for the very first time, while a version of Over the Rainbow of the late Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole overplayed.
The Rock began with a reminiscence of his difficult childhood:
“When I was a little boy I hated it when my mom cried ~ these days I like to take her tears of joy.”
From there, he revealed he made the life-changing purchase for his beloved mother and worked with a team for eight weeks to get it all ready! The actor explained how he wanted this to be her forever home:
“I surprised my mother and bought her a new home. It took me and my design team 8 weeks to get it ready where she could walk through her front door for the first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise. I’ve been fortunate to have bought her a few houses over the years but this one is special as she has kept telling me over the past few years, ‘Having a lifetime of travelling, I want this home my last is This is my dream.'”
“Mom, there is no greater feeling than making you happy ~ welcome home”Advertisement
So wonderful! As you can see in the video clip of her first glimpse of the amazing house (below), the A-list star also put a sign that reads “Le Samoana” above the front door, as a nod to his mother’s pride of Samoan descent:
We don’t cry, you cry!
In two back-to-back IG videos, The Rock gave his mother a full tour of the home, pointing out key landmarks and design decisions. One of these included a room with Ata’s collection of vintage ukuleles mounted on the walls, as well as old photographs from his mother’s childhood in Samoa decades ago.
The star explained:
“I was able to unearth images of our ancestors that she hasn’t seen since she was a child in Samoa.”
And here’s more on this part of the house:
Finally, The Rock showed fans his mother’s “Smackdown Room” filled with memorabilia and wonderful old wrestling and movie memories of her son.
The superstar celebrity denied the existence of the space itself and didn’t want to spend too much time in such a personally themed space. But as he explained, he loved that his mother worked to catalog so many memories throughout his career:
“This is her favorite room that she takes guests to and my least favorite because the last thing I want to do is stand in a DJ shrine while people look around while my mum walks them through everything leads the things I’ve done. But the truth is when I’M ALONE those smackdown rooms she creates have such positive energy and beautiful mana. Always a good reminder for me to never forget where I came from and to always be thankful for Grind.”
Ch-ch-check the tout (below):
We love seeing things like this. The Rock truly honors his mother’s sacrifice and hard work to give him a better life when he was younger – and now he’s giving her the best life she deserves!
Such a great moment for the whole Johnson family!
