What is the Great Yorkshire Show?

The Great Yorkshire Show (GYS) is an agricultural exhibition which, as the name suggests, is held annually in Yorkshire.

2022 is the 163rd Great Yorkshire Show.

The show celebrates farming, food, farming and countryside with traditional competitions such as show jumping and sheepdog trials.

What’s happening at the Great Yorkshire Show 2022?

This year’s event features a brand new GYS stage, hosted by freelance journalist and former ITV calendar presenter Christine Talbot, featuring a different farming celebrity each day.

Celebrities set to perform include TV presenter MBE Matt Baker who will perform on Thursday 14th July and English shepherd Amanda Owen who will perform on Friday 15th July as well as Peter Wright of The Yorkshire Vet who will perform every day.

Visitors can also expect to see some of the country’s finest animals competing in the competitions, including cattle, horses, sheep and pigs.

What dates does the Great Yorkshire Show take place?

The show always takes place from the second Tuesday in July to the following Thursday or Friday.

This year the show started on Tuesday 12th July and will end on Friday 15th July.
