Social media chef Salt Bae has made millions of pounds since expanding his restaurant chain to London
Nusret Gokce, best known as ‘Salt Bae’, reportedly made £7million in the first four months after opening his London steakhouse.
The 39-year-old chef from Turkey has amassed nearly 50 million Instagram followers since going viral on social media with his unusual way of sprinkling salt on food at prestigious restaurants.
Nusret UK Limited, the company behind Nusr-Et Steakhouse in Knightsbridge, recently released financial results while admitting they “performed better than expected”.
Corresponding company buildingthe company achieved a profit of £2.3 million for the year ended 31 December 2021.
Nusret’s success comes after he was slammed by diners for the staggering prices on his menu.
One person took to social media to claim they were charged over £37,000 for the meal at the London restaurant.
Nusret was also criticized for paying staff the same hourly rate as the cost of corn on the cob on his menu.
However, the £12ph plus tip is significantly higher than the national minimum wage.
When Nusr-Et opened in Knightbridge in late September 2021, it was an existing brand that Salt Bae took over, meaning he didn’t own it.
The restaurant was owned by Turkey’s Dogus International, one of the largest private sector conglomerates in Turkey with a portfolio of 250 companies across seven sectors.
Nusret often uses his social media to brag about his wealth and businesses, however he is not listed as a director for either Nusret UK Limited or Dogus International.
The tremendous success of the company has made the company confident and they believe that the company will exist in the “foreseeable future”.
Nusret Gokce owns several luxury steakhouses in Turkey, Dubai and London under his brand name “Nusr-Et” and has a net worth of US$70 million.
He became a social media broadcaster back in 2011 after posting on his Twitter account how he was cutting meat and sprinkling salt.
Nusret was nicknamed “Salt Bae” after the clip was reposted on Instagram, where it garnered over 10 million views.
Since his viral fame, the Turkish chef has entertained celebrities and politicians alike in his restaurants.
