Premier League fixtures 2022/23: when are the opening day matches?


The Premier League fixtures for the 2022/23 season have been released.

Crystal Palace host Arsenal in the opening game of the 2022/23 Premier League season at Selhurst Park on Friday 5 August.


The Premier League announced the fixtures this morning (Thursday 16 June) which also outline the key dates surrounding the winter break enforced by the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Manchester City begin their title defense at West Ham, while Liverpool take on newly promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage.

What happens with the World Cup break?

The final round of Premier League matches ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will take place on Saturday 12 November.


International players leave their clubs to meet with their national teams for the finals, which begin on November 21.

The final of the World Cup is scheduled for December 18th.


The Premier League then returns on Boxing Day (December 26).
