Peter Crouch to replace comedian Mo Gilligan on ITV’s Masked Dancer

Former football player Peter Crouch will replace comedian Mo Gilligan in ITV’s The Masked Dancer this autumn.

The Masked Dancer has been confirmed for a second season and while we don’t know the contestants hidden behind the costumes, the host and lineup of judges have been announced.

Audiences won’t see Mo Gilligan as the comedian is unavailable for work reasons.

Taking his place is ex-footballer Peter Crouch, who has a wealth of famous friends, which could give him an edge when it comes to judging who the celebrities behind the masks are.

Peter Crouch joined Portsmouth from Liverpool in 2008 for around £11million.

Peter himself is known for fancy footwork, he said the mirror how excited he was to take part in the upcoming season.

Peter said: “The show is a firm favorite in our household and when asked I jumped at the chance to be a part of it.

“I’m competitive and I’m currently scrolling through my friends’ social media in search of these telltale dance moves.

Louis Smith is an Olympic gymnast who won a bronze medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and silver medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He also won a gold medal at the 2015 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships on the pommel horse.

“Another plus is that my social media, family and friends aren’t constantly speculating that I’m hiding behind any of the masks.”

Last year’s winner was Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, who was exposed as a “carwash”. This year’s costumes include Prawn Cocktail, Candlestick and Cactus.

ITV announced the new season of The Masked Dancer as part of their upcoming autumn programme, but has not given a specific date yet.
