Why was it brought to court?

Vardy was questioned in court by Rooney’s attorney, David Sherborne, in which she repeatedly denied leaking information about Roney to newspapers.

When asked by Sherborne, Vardy agreed with his suggestion that it’s “wrong” and “annoying” for someone to secretly leak someone else’s information that they don’t want to share.

Sherborne asked if Vardy respects people’s privacy, to which she replied, “Yes, I do.”

At that point, Sherborne turned to questions about Vardy’s 2004 interview about Andre.

He said that New of the World was the “time highest circulating newspaper” read by about four million people and asked Vardy if it was “respect” to Andre’s “right” not to have “this information” about her sexual exterior to share a newspaper.

Vardy replied: “I was forced into a situation by my ex-husband to do this. It’s something I deeply regret… It’s not nice to read and I understand why this is used and to me this is a mud fight and I’ve also been threatened with a mud fight by Ms Rooney’s team.”

When Sherborne repeated his question, Vardy said that the “circumstances around it were completely different.” She later said that she neither asked Andre for permission to do the interview nor warned him in advance that it was going to happen.

Sherborne asked, “Was it particularly important to you that the size of his manhood should be made public?”

Vardy replied: “It was something I had to say.”
