Tennis legend John McEnroe surprised music fans by taking the stage with Pearl Jam for a song at BST Hyde Park on Friday night (8 July).

The seven-time Grand Slam winner is in town as part of the BBC’s coverage of Wimbledon.

Despite his busy schedule, however, he still found time to dust off his guitar and rock out with Pearl Jam.

The band played the first of two headline sets at BST Hyde Park on Friday, also joined by Pixies and Cat Power.

Pearl Jam will return to the festival tonight (July 9th).

Another added: “Love that Pearl Jam just brought out John McEnroe for Rockin’ In The Free World in Hyde Park tonight, although Mac looked like he was having trouble remembering the chords and that’s why tried to write off Stone Gossard.”
