According to Ms Hinch’s fans, using a single dishwasher tablet when washing your linens helps “brighten” the look of pillows.

Elizabeth Cremin said: “I only put a dishwasher tablet in the drum on whites and it brightens them up.”

Dishwasher tabs are great for soiled pillows as they penetrate stubborn grease and can be bought from stores like Wilko for just £3 for a pack of 40. This equates to less than 8p per tablet.

Sarah Horton commented, “I use dishwasher tabs for a hot wash and mine turned out even lighter than expected.”
