Ex-Prime Minister and England striker Michael Owen paid a sweet tribute to his daughter Gemma as she leaves ITV’s Love Island
Michael Owen shared a sweet message following the Love Island finale praising his daughter Gemma after she finished second with partner Luca Bish.
The couple joined couples Indiyah & Dami and Andrew & Tasha in the last public vote, but fan favorites Ekin-Su and Davide were crowned Love Island champions.
Gemma’s father congratulated her on her second place on Instagram.
The former England footballer shared a photo of himself alongside Gemma with the caption: “What a special girl. So proud of you @gemowen_1. Now come home, we all missed you.”
Almost 40,000 people liked the post, and many agreed that Michael should be proud of his daughter.
Gemma is the daughter of ex-Prime Minister and England striker Michael Owen.
Gemma is an international dressage rider who has competed for Great Britain since she was 11 years old.
She is also a business owner and launched her brand OG Beachwear earlier this year.
Before her stay at the villa, she said she is very competitive and always does what she wants.
She said: “Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My father was a professional soccer player. I have competed in dressage for Great Britain since I was 11 years old. I’ve traveled all over Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive.”
She added, “I will always do what I want,” she said. “But at the same time I won’t screw anything up for someone who is in a real relationship or stand in the way of a couple if they have a real connection. I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy if they did to me.”

Speaking to Sky Sports’ At The Races, Michael Owen confirmed he will not be visiting Gemma at the villa and said his wife “will take on that duty”.
He said: “I will represent the horses and she will represent the daughter.
“I don’t know what I’m getting from Box To Box. But I know what I will get from my daughter.
“I fathered her for 19 years, so I’m pretty sure what I’m going to get from her.”
The 23-year-old from Surrey works as a director of a roofing company at a company called The Roofing Company Inc Ltd.
He was a contestant at this year’s Love Island and made his debut in Casa Amor.
Billy was already known to Gemma before they entered the Love Island villa as the two have mutual friends.
Gemma said: “One of my best mate friends outside is his best mate.”
Jacques O’Neill is a Cumbrian native and a professional rugby league player.
The 23-year-old appeared in this year’s Love Island series.
Before his performance, it was revealed that he is Gemma Owen’s ex-boyfriend.
They dated for about eight months and broke up a year and a half ago.
The 29-year-old from Gloucestershire is an actor, model and television personality best known for his appearance in Love Island season 3.
He now works as a sports channel covering cricket for the BBC and horse racing on ITV.
Chris first became friends with the Owen family after meeting footballer Michael on the TV show Crystal Maze and they see each other regularly at the horse racing track.
Chris revealed he gave Gemma some advice before she entered the Love Island villa.
