Meredith Chapman: who was she?

At Villanova University, Meredith Chapman was Associate Vice President. She began her career in 2010 as senior news editor at the University of Delaware’s Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM).

In 2013 she was appointed Director of Electronic Communications. She has also served as an adjunct professor for the Communications Department and Lerner College of Business and Economics.

Her creation of the University’s Social Media Marketing Strategy Certificate, offered as part of Professional and Continuing Studies, was recognized by the University Professional and Continuing Education Association in 2016.

During her tenure as a consultant at Ruffalo Noel Levitz, she had also provided advice on branding, strategy and digital marketing.

She graduated from UD with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in educational technology. She participated in the UD Cheer Squad as a student while coaching cheerleading at Newark High School.

Meredith Chapman was killed at her Pennsylvania home in April 2018. Her lover’s wife broke into her apartment while she was away, awaited her arrival and then shot her dead before killing herself.

The 33-year-old was killed just days after taking up her post as deputy vice-president of Villanova University. In her obituary, she was described as having boundless energy, infectious enthusiasm and keen observation.

Cause of Death of Meredith Chapman

Meredith Chapman was fatally shot. She and her spouse were going through a divorce. She was also dating Jennair’s husband, Mark Gerardot.

Mark initially kept his contact with Chapman a secret from his wife. But he did tell her he was in love with Meredith on Valentine’s Day 2018. After that, they made the decision to seek couples counseling and give their marriage another chance.

However, at the second session, he accidentally stepped on a recording device attached to his clothing. He and Meredith were the targets of Jennair’s snooping, which she admitted.

After that episode, according to Mark, divorce was inevitable. When Chapman moved to Radnor Township and got a job at Villanova University, his divorce from his wife became final.

Jennair had called him to dinner on the day of the murder to discuss divorce settlements, but she didn’t show up, instead asking Mark to go home as she couldn’t make it.

She then said goodbye to him in a series of texts, wishing he would never be happy. She’d also emailed him a picture of the garbage can outside Chapman’s house.

He rushed to her house hoping to find Chapman and her fighting when she didn’t reply to his message. But what he actually saw was the lifeless bodies of the two women.
