Married At First Sight UK 2022: when does new series start?

Married At First Sight UK returns to E4 for a seventh season in which 16 new singles will marry someone they’ve never met

Married At First Sight is a reality TV show that follows eight new couples, put together by experts, as they hitchhike to get married on their first date.

But it’s only after the weddings are swapped that their relationships really take off – as the eight new couples will enjoy a glamorous honeymoon before moving into a home together.

Their relationships are explored at weekly dinner parties and frequent commitment ceremonies, which give those couples who feel they aren’t a good fit a chance to walk off the show.

Experts Melanie Schilling, Paul C. Brunson and Charlene Douglas will return to curate eight matches they hope will be marriage material.

Who are the contestants in Season 7 of Married At First Sight UK?

Adrian – 37, Digital Designer, Manchester

Adrian is a creative individual who expresses himself through his fashion and likes to take his time to make sure he looks his best.

Duka – 31, HR Recruitment Coordinator, Birmingham

Duka’s family fled the conflict in former Yugoslavia and he has lived in the UK since he was 10 years old.

He says he struggled when he moved to the UK as he didn’t speak English and was bullied and believes that affected him as an adult as he doesn’t let people get to him very often.

Duka wants to find an “Instagram girl” who is happy to take care of herself, but who he can also talk to about deeper issues like global affairs.

George – 40, Financial Advisor, Worcester

George is a father of four – his two eldest children live with him while his youngest child lives with his mother.

Outgoing and spontaneous, Jordan thinks he’s a good catch — but says he’s too picky about what he wants.

Kwame – 42, Management Consultant, London

Kwame is confident, stylish and well-travelled – with a successful career to boot. He has been married before and has children.

He won Mr. Ghana in 2000 and hopes the woman he meets on the show will find him appealing too.

Pjay – 31, Management Consultant, London

Pjay is part of the famous male striptease company Dreamboys, although he says his job has prevented him from finding the right woman.

He believes that working in an environment where thousands of women yell at you while you take off your clothes inspires confidence in his relationships in general.

Pjay says that he is very close to his mother and sister and that his future wife must have his mother’s approval.

Richie – 50, sales consultant, Sheffield

Richie has worked in the music industry for more than 20 years, mostly on the road, and has worked with English tenor Russell Watson.

He has also worked with American singer Sheryl Crow, although he admits he couldn’t get her number.

He says he’s a deep, emotional, sophisticated and socially intelligent person, but also has a good laugh.

Thomas – 31, Mental Health Assistant, Liverpool

Thomas says he loves to be the center of attention and always has – he’s loud, sarcastic and unlikely to shy away from an argument.

He thinks his worst nightmare is being described as nice.

Thomas is looking for a partner who will defuse his behavior and help him balance it.

April – 32, Dress Designer, London

April has designed countless wedding dresses throughout her career, but has never had to walk down the aisle herself.

She has competed in several Miss GB pageants, coming second in the first two, but came back again and won the third time.

April wants someone who is comfortable with her independence and who wants to live life to the fullest with her – plus they must love cheese.

Chanita – 29, social worker, Derby

Chanita has dedicated her life to her work as a social worker and says she is caring and protective by nature.

She makes friends wherever she goes and always checks on them to make sure they are all okay.

Chanita came out of a ten year relationship two years ago and is now ready to find her future partner to start the next part of her life with.

Jenna – 32, Zero Waste Shop owner, Blackpool

Jenna is a small business owner who never considered getting married – she hasn’t adhered to the traditional concept of marriage and doesn’t like the idea of the woman taking the man’s surname traditionally.

However, lately she’s had the idea of marriage and says she wants to commit to someone.

On the show, she hopes to find love and someone to build a long life with.

Jess – 31, Dental Hygienist, Cambridgeshire

Jess describes herself as unique, quirky but extremely funny and outgoing and believes that laughter and fun are the most important ingredients in life.

She is an open book, if she is angry with someone she will not hide it, and if she wants to do something, she will do it without hesitation.

Jess says she’s not afraid to look silly and her future partner needs to have the same energy and outspokenness as her.

Kasia – 36 years old businesswoman, London

Kasia left school at the age of 16 to have her first child and has since started a successful business and had another child.

Her looks are very important to her and she loves to do makeup and look her best.

After her children are grown, Kasia wants to focus on her own needs for a while and is looking for a partner to settle down with long term.

Lara’s relationship role models are her parents, who have been married for 51 years and are each other’s best friends, and she wants her next relationship to be like hers.

Whitney – 31, Pennsylvania, St Albans

Whitney says she doesn’t lack for male attention, but is very picky when it comes to finding a man to bond with.

She has dated men before but has never found anyone she wants to take home to meet her family.

Whitney is now willing to let the experts take over for her and hopefully find her a match that meets all of her criteria.

Zoe – 30, Volume Surveyor, West Midlands

Zoe is a successful professional who works hard and plays even harder.

Fed up with the dating scene, she is now looking for something long-term to start a family with.

She describes herself as dominant and confident but is looking for a real connection and someone to share her softer, more intimate side with.

Are the weddings real?

No, despite the show’s title, the weddings you see at the beginning of each series are not legally binding.

This is almost certainly a good thing since the brides and grooms know almost nothing about each other at this stage of the show.

A marriage certificate is required for a wedding to be legal in the UK, and couples on the show do not sign one.

Instead, the couples give a verbal commitment rather than an official, legally binding one.

In the American version of the show, the marriages are rumored to be legal — though they all come with a standard prenup, which has come in handy since multiple divorces typically follow each season of the show.
