After five rounds, a quarter-final and a semi-final, the FA Cup was finally reduced to the bottom two teams.

When the competition started the likes of Yeovil Town, Ebbsfleet United and Rochdale were struggling to make it this far and of these lower division sides it was Kidderminster who managed the longest to keep the dream alive.

The National League North side were eventually defeated by West Ham in the final minutes of extra time in the fourth round.

The Harriers underscored what the FA Cup means to English football – teams from all leagues compete and mingle with the top flight, often crowding out the bigger boys and creating refreshing drama in the sport.

The top two, however, advanced to the third round in which Liverpool and Chelsea defeated their subsequent opponents with relative ease – now they go head to head again in a repeat of February’s Carabao Cup final for the coveted trophy.

The Blues secured their place in the final with victories over Chesterfield, Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace, while the Reds triumphed over Shrewsbury, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City.

While Chelsea still have some way to go to qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool are focused on not one, but three competitions. The Reds have five Premier League games to try and beat Manchester City at the top while preparing for the UEFA Champions League final in just under three weeks.
