Callum Wheeler was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of police officer Julia James.
Wheeler was found guilty of murder during a six-day trial in May and appeared at Canterbury Crown Court today to receive his verdict.
He will serve at least 37 years in prison for the crime.
The 22-year-old used a 3kg jack to beat the mother-of-two to death while she was walking her dog in a wooded area near her home in Snowdown, Kent, last April.
After being arrested by police, Wheeler told officers, “Sometimes I do things I can’t control” and “You can’t go into the woods and expect to be safe.”
He added that he would return to the woods to rape and kill a woman and said Mrs James deserved death.
