A child star in Hollywood, Judith Eva Barsi had a promising career. But as Judith’s career blossomed, her father József became angry and threatened to harm himself, his wife and daughter.
Three arrests for drunk driving were the result of József’s drinking and he was always violent at home. In December 1986, Maria, Judith’s mother, informed the police of his threats and physical abuse. However, she made the decision not to press charges after police found no tangible signs of abuse.
After the confrontation with the police, her father reportedly stopped drinking but threatened her anyway. He threatened to cut their throats and set the house on fire. He allegedly concealed a telegraph alerting Maria that a relative had died in Hungary to prevent her from leaving the country with Judith.
The young starlet claimed to a pal that her nose bled after her dad threw pots and pans at her. Due to her mistreatment, Judith began gaining weight and exhibiting obsessive tendencies.
