How long has Jeremy Paxman been running the University Challenge?

Since 1994, broadcaster Jeremy Paxman, who is also a former Newsnight host, has hosted the memory- and knowledge-based quiz show.

That means he has hosted the show for 28 years and will be at the helm of the show for almost 29 years until his retirement.

Why is Jeremy Paxman leaving University Challenge?

No official reason was given for Paxman’s retirement as host of the University Challenge.

The broadcaster revealed its diagnosis in May 2021, describing its symptoms as “mild”.

Parkinson’s disease is a long-term degenerative disease of the central nervous system that primarily affects the motor system.
