As the prewar actress took the stage to present the award for Best R&B/Pop Artist at the 2022 BET Awards on June 26, she took a moment to send a big “f—k you” to the Supreme Court , after voting in a 5-4 decision Roe v. to overthrow Wade, who introduced constitutional abortion rights in the United States in 1973.

“I want to give a special, special shout out to black women, black queer artists, and black non-binary artists,” Janelle began. “These artists make art on our own terms, stand by our truth and express ourselves freely and uncompromisingly in a world that seeks to control and monitor our body, mind and body, our choices, my choice.”

Janelle then blurted out “F–k you, Supreme Court” and held up her middle finger as the audience at the Microsoft Theater erupted in applause.
