New Zealand news anchor Tom Mcrae has announced he is leaving NZ Newshub.
Tom is a reporter and presenter for Newshub Live at 6pm from Auckland. He founded Mediaworks in 2012 after working as a journalist for TVNZ for five years.
Tom has covered some of the most notable stories of recent years including the Lindt Cafe siege, the disappearance of MH370, the Pike River mining disaster, the Canterbury earthquakes and the Paris terrorist attacks. From 2014 to 2016 he worked as Australia correspondent.

Tom Mcrae is indeed leaving Newshub as the rumors have it. In a lengthy Instagram post, he announced that he was leaving Newshub.
He outlined how he will cherish his experiences in Newshub for the rest of his life. He said the time he spent at Newshub taught him a lot that he will use in the future.
Most of Mcrae’s admirers experienced bittersweet feelings throughout the process of his departure. While some of his followers rejoiced to see him entering the new phase of his life, others were left in mourning.
However, Tom is eager to start a new chapter in his life and finish the current one. He expressed his gratitude to everyone at Newshub for making his six years there so special and memorable.
He was also pleased that his weekends spent at Newshub had now become treasured memories that he would always remember. Tom bantered politely by explaining that he’s not allowed to live in a tuxedo, as he shared a series of photos on his Instagram account of him in a white tuxedo.

After being freed from a police blockade, Tom, Newshub’s Australian correspondent in Sydney, covered the Sydney siege from his newsroom across the street. Tom was sent to Kuala Lumpur to cover both the MH17 plane crash and the disappearance of airliner MH370. He was in Paris to cover the terrorist attack on the Bataclan theater.
On the weekends, Tom hosts Newshub Live at 6pm. He currently resides in Auckland with his wife and small family. Tom has hosted a number of notable live broadcasts including the Kaikoura earthquake, John Key’s resignation and Donald Trump’s victory as President of the United States.
