Two legendary IPL franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will face off once again today.
The Indian Premier League has been heating up in recent weeks, with almost 60 of the planned 74 games already being played.
Jos Buttler has smashed left, right and center for his team, the Rajasthan Royals, for centuries, while Yuzvendra Chahal has torn opposing batsmen apart and already won 23 wickets in the tournament.
This year the IPL launched two new teams, the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow SuperGiants, both of whom now lead the table with 18 and 16 points respectively.
Last year’s winners, the Chennai Super Kings, currently find themselves in ninth place, just ahead of the all-time winning team at the IPL, the Mumbai Indians.
Today, these two iconic IPL franchises go head-to-head to save themselves from league relegation.
As the two teams prepare for another fierce competition, here’s a look at the ideal Dream11 to choose for your Fantasy IPL squad made up of players from CSK and MI…
If MS Dhoni is on your team, there is no way he is not your captain. Dhoni is an Indian legend and the longest-serving player in the IPL.
He has led CSK to four championships, the last in 2021, and so far enjoys an overall average of 32.60 in 2022 – an even more impressive average considering he finishes in seventh place.
His hit rate is 139.31 and has a high score of 50*. There’s no better game to lead a team than the face of the IPL, MS Dhoni.
Varma stormed the IPL for the Mumbai Indians this year. He hit a total of 334 runs while facing only 245 balls.
The Hyderabad batsman has been his team’s saving grace this year. As the IPL’s most successful team slips to bottom in the league, Varma has shone throughout and saved his team from even more shame.
Varma knocked down the order and stabilized an extraordinarily shaky ship while averaging a 37.11
Moeen Ali came into his own at the 2021 IPL tournament and continued to be a solid player for the Chennai Super Kings in 2022.
Despite only playing in seven of CSK’s 11 games so far, Ali has scored 130 runs and won five wickets with an average of 21.80.
Despite not being the leading wicket-taker or leading run scorer for CSK this year, he is a consistent performer and is sure to act whenever his team needs it, be it with the ball or the bat.
With an effect similar to Varma, Bumrah was a brief ray of hope in the Mumbai Indians’ otherwise disastrous campaign.
India’s devastating fast bowler has won 10 wickets in his 11 innings and will certainly keep the ball moving throughout his time.
Recently he recorded 5/10 and a maiden in his first four overs and delivered the best bowling figures by an Indian pacemaker in IPL history – a perfectly safe bet heading into the final few games of the group stage.
Rohit Sharma is the current captain of the Mumbai Indians and the India Test national team. As an opener, however, he should secure the majority of his team’s runs in a limited overs match.
He’s currently averaging an 18.18 – far from impressive for someone of his caliber.
Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikward, however, they have inspired much more in their respective roles, and while their names may not carry the same weight as Sharma, their current forms should not be ignored.
Kishan as scored 321 runs in 274 balls, including a high score of 81*, while Gaikwad hit 306 runs from 230 balls and narrowly missed an IPL century, earning a highest score of 99.
Ravindra Jadeja would have been another top pick as he would have offered with both racquet and ball but he was recently ruled out of the rest of the IPL due to injured ribs.
Ishan Kishan; Ruturaj Gaikward, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Tilak Varma (vc), MS Dhoni, Kieron Pollard; Dwayne Bravo; Makeesh Theekshana; Mukesh Choudhary; Jasper Bumrah.
