How do you vote at Eurovision?

There are many different ways for people in the UK to vote for their favorite Eurovision Song Contest performances.

The most common is voting by telephone.

Each participating country will be assigned a number based on its order in the show.

For example, the first artist gets the code 01.

The audience then uses the code of the country they want to vote for before the long phone number.

The numbers are often displayed on the screen during voting.

You can also download the Eurovision app to make the process a bit easier.

The app gives you a link to your mobile phone number.

Telephone lines can often be busy during the voting period – if you hear an area code you can try again as your vote will not be registered until you hear the recorded message.

Can the UK vote by text?

The Eurovision Song Contest lyrics vote is currently unavailable in the UK.

The BBC states: “The lyric vote cannot be included in the Eurovision Song Contest UK vote as the vote is relatively short and during which the result must be provided and verified.

“There is a risk of potential delays within mobile networks at peak times, which could result in text votes not being received within the timeframe that the vote is open. On a phone call, if the exchange is busy, you’ll hear a busy tone, but on a text/SMS, you won’t know if your vote will be delayed (resulting in it not being registered).”

Nor can you vote via the BBC Eurovision website or by email.

Voting will not open until the last performance has ended.

At this point, the hosts will utter the famous phrase: “Europe, start voting now.”

From this point you have about 15 minutes to register your votes.

After this period, the hosts close the voting line again. All votes cast after that can still be offset, but will not be counted.
