The holders yesterday confirmed a deal in principle with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland after City activated his £51.2million release clause.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the world’s top strikers in recent years – scoring 61 goals in 66 league games since arriving in Germany in 2020.

For City to buy him for less than Romelu Lukaku, Harry Maguire and Nicolas Pepe is amazing and if he’s able to maintain his form it could prove to be one of the biggest bargains in football history.
