How do I keep flies out of the house?

If you’re tired of chasing flies out of your house during the hot summer days, there are some simple home remedies you can try to keep the bugs from even getting into the house.

Fans of British influencer Mrs Hinch, who is known for sharing house cleaning tips on Instagram, have set up various Facebook groups to share genius tricks for the whole house – including how to keep flies away in the summer.

A common trick is to hang a zippered plastic bag filled with water and some coins on an open window or over a door.

It is believed that the light reflected off the coins discourages the flies from entering, causing them to become confused and overwhelmed, causing them to quickly fly away.

While the coin trick is a popular method, many other recommendations have been shared for keeping flies at bay, including a number of natural solutions.

Tips include placement Citronella candles and incense Close open doors and windows to keep them at bay.

Flies don’t like the smell either basilSo putting a few basil plants on window sills or in pots by the door should discourage them from getting inside.

Putt dried cloves, mint, lavender or Cinammon in pots or bowls with windows open should also help reduce the number of flies entering your home as they don’t like the strong smell.

If you don’t have any essential oils or herbs on hand, another simple solution worth trying is to use them Apple Cider Vinegar.
