Los Angeles, California coach Mosley, best known for his portrayal of helicopter pilot Theodore “TC” on the CBS show “Magnum PI,” died August 7 at 1:17 am. He was 83 years old. According to a Facebook post by his daughter, he died surrounded by his loved ones.

Ch-a Mosley later revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he died Thursday, August 4, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Lynwood, Calif., at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Mosley was reportedly paraplegic from the shoulder down as a result of his severe injuries from the car accident. His three children Toni Laudermick and his partner all survive him.

Ch-a Mosley, Mosley’s daughter, posted on Facebook: “At 1:17 am Roger E. Mosley, my father, your buddy, “Coach Mosley” and “TC” from Magnum PI died. He transcended quietly, surrounded by relatives.” She continued, “Such a great man could never be mourned. Any wailing in his honor will TERRORIZE him. It’s time to honor the legacy he left for all of us. I appreciate you daddy. You adored me too. Though my heart is heavy, I am strong. Your almost 60-year-old love, Mommy, is being looked after by me. Thanks to the way you raised me, she is in wonderful hands. Do you feel comfortable.”

Ch-a Mosley previously explained on Facebook that he was involved in a car accident: “Roger E. Mosley, my father, was seriously injured in a car accident last week, leaving him paraplegic from the shoulders down. Despite his difficult condition, he fights bravely. We’re doing everything we can to take care of him now. In addition, he is often accompanied by family and friends.”

Honors pour in after Mosley’s death

Recalling Mosley, Tina Andrews, a writer and performer, explained, “Dark Day Magnum PI actor ‘TC’ on the show Roger E. Mosley, 83, has changed. He was in a car accident last weekend and was surrounded by his family. What a nice guy and talented actor who threw amazing parties. RIP, Roger. We will miss you and how much we loved you.” On the television show Magnum PI, Shavar Ross, who previously starred as Mosley’s son “Bryant,” tweeted, “Mr. Roger E. Mosley, a great actor, rest in peace. As a kid, I watched Mr. Mosley play tennis at Poinsettia Park in West Hollywood, California. He was like family. Bryant, his son, was a role I got to play on Magnum PI. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosley’s family, friends and supporters.”
