Brooke Shields wants to keep the negativity away from her family.

Especially when it comes to her daughters Rowan Francis Henchy19 and Grier Hammond Henchy16 (with husband Chris Henchy), navigate through social media.

“I try not to preach too much,” the supermodel exclusively told E! News. “They’ve been privy to me as role models their whole lives, so instead of saying, ‘You should do this, you should do that’ when I’m faced with something, I talk to them about it.”

Although she doesn’t read comments on social media, her children do. “They’ll be like, ‘Mom, it’s amazing how evil people can be,'” she explained. “This is a moment for a conversation instead of dictating to them.”

And she leads by example. As the founder of Beginning Is Now, an online platform and lifestyle brand for women, “You see me starting my own business,” the 57-year-old told E!.
