Houston mystery when handcuffed body found covered by blanket in pickup truck

A truck parked for days in southeast Houston, Texas, contained gruesome contents: a handcuffed dead man covered by a blanket.

The disturbing discovery was made at 10:48 a.m. on July 4, when police spotted the curbside pickup truck parked on the 3800 block of Alice Street. As they approached the vehicle, officers noticed a strong odor coming from inside the vehicle.

That smell intensified when they opened the door and reportedly found the man slumped on the driver’s side of the vehicle, covered by a bed sheet. Investigators said the victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck, adding that the body appeared to have been there for four to five days. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Locals told ABC13 The truck sat there for days. one shared:

“I came back into the house after sweeping away the porch and it was still there. I said, ‘Well, maybe it broke or something.'”

Police have described the victim as a Hispanic male, about five feet six inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. The official identification of the man and his cause of death are pending pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
