Why is Tom Holland taking a break from social media?

In a video shared on Instagram, the movie star said he finds the platforms “damaging” to his mental health.

He told his followers: “I’ve taken a break from social media because of my mental health.

“Because I find Instagram and Twitter over-stimulating and overwhelming, I get trapped and spiral when I read things about myself online.

“And ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state. So I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

He continued in his post, “Hello and goodbye… I’ve taken a break from social media for mental health reasons, but felt compelled to come here to talk about it @stem4org .

Who is Tom Holland?

Born in 1996, he is a British actor perhaps best known for playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He has played the popular character in three standalone films, including 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Holland first played Billy Elliott in the West End musical adaptation of the film – he played the role from 2008 to 2010.

He then starred in the 2012 film The Impossible with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.

In addition to playing Spider-Man, he starred in the 2019 animated film Spies in Disguise starring Will Smith, 2021 Chaos Walking, and 2022 Uncharted.

He has been in a relationship with his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya since November 2021.

In a post celebrating his 26th birthday earlier this year, the Emmy winner described Holland as “the one who makes me the happiest.”

The Emmy-winning actress, 25, shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram in which Holland can be seen hugging her from behind as she gazes into the distance with a beaming smile.

She captioned the post: “The happiest of birthdays to whoever makes me the happiest.”

In the last three Spider-Man films, Holland played hero Peter Parker while Zendaya played his love interest MJ.
