The Scottish Premiership were beaten on penalties by Frankfurt in the final in May – weeks after the Germans defeated the Irons.

This season, Arsenal and Manchester United will represent the Premier League after both missing out on a place in the top four, while teams like Malmo, Olympiacos and Fenerbahce face off in a two-legged play-off round in the coming weeks to decide who will take the remaining places in the Europa League.

Both English clubs will be confident of lifting the trophy next year, with United winning it five years ago and the Gunners finishing runners-up in 2019.

Before we can see some of Europe’s greats taking on each other, the draw must first take place to decide which teams will face off in the group stage.
