If the offer goes through, Ten Hag would likely see him as a replacement option for Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford as he would offer something different if he comes off the bench.

With the potential for another striker to arrive, Ronaldo will find his position in the squad even more precarious. Football.London has reported that Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly would be keen to sign the star but it’s Thomas Tuchel who needs convincing.

Tuchel was reportedly keen on signing former Arsenal manager Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead, but if negotiations with the Gabonese star don’t go through, the Portugal international could be the next best option.
