Paddy, 48, and Christine, 34, were introduced through a mutual friend and had been married for 11 years when news of their split surfaced amid rumors Paddy had sent secret Instagram messages to a BBC presenter in March.

While Christine and Paddy posted a joint Instagram statement about their split on July 22, they were understood to have kept it a secret for a month, leaving Christine “miserable”.

The statement said: “We had no plans to share this publicly until we were ready, but given the lack of privacy in our personal lives, we have no choice but to clarify this.

“Some time ago we made the difficult decision to separate, but our main focus, as always, is to continue to love and support our children.

“This was not an easy decision, but we are making progress as the best parents we can be to our three beautiful children. We will always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily together in our family home.

“We hope this now puts an end to any further unwanted or unnecessary intrusion into our privacy. Although we work in the public eye, we kindly ask that you respect our desire for privacy on this matter.”
