British actor Dev Patel broke up a fight that left a man stabbed in the chest outside a supermarket in South Australia.

The actor and his friends witnessed a violent altercation between a man and woman outside a supermarket in Adelaide and intervened to end things.

A 32-year-old man was treated at the scene and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

South Australia Police confirmed a woman was arrested after the incident.

Patel has now been praised online for his heroic actions.

One person said: “Such an act of bravery. All the more you appreciate and love Dev Patel. I hope he’s okay after the incident.”

In the statement, they said: “There are no heroes in this situation and unfortunately this specific incident underscores a larger systemic problem where marginalized members of society are not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”
