The 19-year-old is following in the footsteps of Freddie Slater, a character last seen at Walford in 2006
Bobby Brazier, son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, will make his acting debut as he joins the cast of the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Brazier said that “breaking into the acting world” had always been a “vision” of his and that his experience filming on the set of the long-running soap was “perfect”.
That’s all you need to know.
Who is Bobby Brazier?
Brazier is the son of the late Jade Goody, a TV personality who rose to fame after appearing in the third season of Big Brother in 2002 and television host Jeff Brazier.
Goody had two children over the course of her relationship with Jeff – Bobby Brazier who was born in June 2003 and Freddy who was born in September 2004.
Brazier was six years old when Goody died of cervical cancer on March 22, 2009.
After the death of his mother, Brazier and his brother were raised by their father, who was given sole custody of him and his brother.
In conversation with the Independently In 2011, Jeff explained that after his death, he had put into action a plan that had been decided well in advance. He took the two boys to Australia to save them from the inevitable media circus.
He said: “For six months [after Goody died] it was as if they were unaffected.
“I wasn’t stupid enough or naive enough to think it would always be like this, I kind of waited for the day it hit her.
“And then it happened, and for 10 months they were completely lost in the world, they just couldn’t get back on their feet. With all the love in the world, all the cuddles…you effectively fight fires with their grief.”
Jeff married PR director Kate Dwyer in 2018.
Speak with Hello magazine At the time, Brazier said of his new stepmom: “One of the greatest things for Fred and I is that Kate makes our dad happy. This is so special and comforting to see.”
During the wedding reception, Brazier said, “Dad, you’re nothing short of a hero, and I think it’s fair to say you’ve nailed this whole dad job.
“I look up to you and your qualities and with Kate by your side I think you are powerful.”
Brazier is a model currently working at Unsigned Models, a London based modeling agency founded in 2009.
He has appeared in magazines such as TINGS, Lewis, ODDA, Schon and MMScene and has modeled the cover of Man About Town. He also walked for Dolce and Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week for men in 2020.
Who will he play against at EastEnders?
Brazier will bring to life the character of Freddie Slater, son of Little Mo Slater, in the BBC soap opera.
Freddie was last seen in Walford in May 2006 when he and his mum left to start a new life – but now, aged 18, he’s back on The Square.
Chris Clenshaw, executive producer, described Freddie as “a messy 18-year-old with a sensitive soul.”
He said: “[He is] a modern boy in touch with his spiritual side.
“He’s philosophical, accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.
“Bobby is an amazing young addition to the EastEnders Cast that brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him.”
Speaking of the role, Brazier said, “I am extremely excited to join the cast of EastEnders – So far it’s been perfect.
“Everyone has been so nice to me and has made it easier for me to settle in than I had hoped.
“Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and that too EastEnders Being Slater is a blessing, I am very grateful.
“I’ve loved every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him at Walford.”
Brazier is currently filming for EastEnderswith its screen debut airing later this fall in the year.
