Adam Peaty recently won the 50m breast row at the Commonwealth Games after being beaten in the 100m breast row for the first time in eight years.
Peaty was fourth in the 100m breaststroke, ahead of England team-mate James Wilby and Australia’s Zak Stubblety-Cook and Sam Williamson.
However, Peaty brought it back for the 50-meter breaststroke, winning that event for the first time at the Games.
This is now Peaty’s fourth Commonwealth Games medal and according to FINA (International Swimming Federation) Peaty is widely regarded as the dominant breaststroke swimmer of his time and the most dominant sprint breaststroke swimmer of all time.

Born in Staffordshire in 1994, Peaty joined Dove Valley Swimming Club at the age of nine after overcoming his fear of water.
Peaty’s first senior event was at the 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships, where he set three personal bests.
From here he competed in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he competed in the 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke and 4 x 100m medley relay.
Peaty’s first-ever world record was set at the 2014 European Championships, where he stopped the 50-meter breaststroke in 26.62 inches in the semifinals before winning gold.
The Notts Forest fan still holds world records in the 50m and 100m breast row and has been undefeated in both World Endurance Championships since 2014.
The 27-year-old is one of only five British swimmers (David Wilkie, Rebecca Adlington, James Guy and Duncan Scott) to have won gold in all four major internationals and is the only swimmer to have won all four major gold medals in the US has the same single event at the same time.
For the 21st century through the end of 2021, Peaty had set a total of 11 individual world records in both short and long lanes, ranking fifth in the world behind Michael Phelps, Aaron Peirsol, Ryan Lochte and Cameron van der Burgh in the number of individual world records broken by one male swimmers were scored.
In 2022, Peaty announced that he would not be competing in the 2022 World Swimming Championships due to a broken foot.
Returning to pool, Peaty earned his fourth Commonwealth Games gold medal by winning the 50-meter breast row.
