Instagram’s boss has addressed the social media platform’s three latest controversial updates

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri is planning a move to London to expand the social media app’s presence in the UK.


His move comes in the middle setback about recent changes to the app, with the Kardashians among the celebrities who posted “Make Instagram Instagram Again” in their story.

The photo-sharing platform is also in a battle with TikTok, which has grown in popularity in recent years – especially among younger viewers.


Adam’s move will see the London office grow well beyond its current 4,000 employees, making it Instagram’s largest technical base.

Adam was born on January 23, 1983 in New York City.

He grew up in a Jewish family in Chappaqua, New York.


He attended New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, graduating in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in media and information design.

While attending New York University, Adam founded his own company, Blank Mosseri.


Blank Mosseri was a design consultancy specializing in graphic, interaction and exhibition design with offices in New York and San Francisco.

In 2007 he joined TokBox as the first designer.


A year later, in 2008, Adam became a product designer for Facebook and later became a product design manager. He was design director for the company’s mobile apps until 2012.

From 2012 to 2016, he ran Facebook’s newsfeed division and served as vice president of product from 2016 to May 2018.


In 2016, after the presidential election, Adam took it upon himself to become a spokesperson for Facebook’s stance on fake news.

Adam was named Instagram’s Vice President of Product in May 2018, and in October of that year, Facebook announced that he would become the new head of Instagram.


This comes after the resignation of app founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in September 2018.

In 2020, he was named to Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list in the Tech category.
